Joëlle Morice Mugnier is a psychotherapist certified to practice the Vittoz Method. She is a supervising therapist and instructor for the Association Roger Vittoz, and a member of the Fédération Française de Psychothérapie et Psychanalyse. Over the past 20 years, she has also been introduced to Jungian psychoanalysis, Gestalt therapy, transactional analysis and person-centered therapy based on the work of Carl Rogers.

Joëlle Morice Mugnier is left-handed in the traditional sense of the term. In response to her own struggles in this area and those of her patients, she has developed :

• a method to rehabilitate the eye’s and/or hand’s left-sidedness and to structure laterality: laterapedagogy.

• therapeutic support for cognitive, behavioural, emotional, psychological and mental disorders resulting from being left-eyed and/or left-handed and from struggling to adapt to our right-handed system: lateratherapy.

In her book entitled Gauchers en difficulté, la latérapédagogie, une richesse inexploitée (published by Pierre Téqui, 2011), Joëlle Morice Mugnier details the advantages of laterapedagogy and offers concrete pedagogical and therapeutic methods that can be used by anyone, especially parents, teachers, and treatment experts (speech therapists, orthoptists, and specialists in handwriting, psychomotor skills, and mind-body therapy approaches, etc.).

This method and specific theory designed to structure laterality is also taught during training courses (see Training). The approach’s undeniable benefits are both physical and psychological. Individuals with serious lateralization problems, and also those who just want to be able to realize their full potential can learn to be more unified, and even discover a deeper sense of meaning to their lives.
